It ain’t easy being LGBTQ. Just the simple act of holding hands in public can threaten one’s life.

So as part of Allstate’s “Out Holding Hands” campaign for equality, we created this short—an allegorical story of a young man ostracized for his large hand—at a time when insuring gay couples wasn’t even protected by law.

Co-created with musical artist Eli Lieb, who appears in the film, the work spawned an award-winning original song. The film was celebrated by Allstate customers and the public alike, fetching over 11 million views on YouTube, securing several awards and spiking Allstate patronage during the Pride summer months.
